It was the summer of ‘98 and having nothing else to do but get bored at home, I started digging through some of the dusty, filthy stuff that Mom used to keep below the bed in huge trunks. I found a load of crap but one thing I did find was a beautiful wooden engraving bearing the message: “Wife is a Knife that cuts a husband’s Life”
At that time I didn’t understand very clearly what it meant but knowing that it was resting in the rusted trunk under the bed in the attic, I got a vague idea. I guessed it probably belonged to dad from his bachelor days. I didn’t give it much of a thought at the time but it just comes back to me now.
Why now, you ask? Well it’s because ever since I started working I have met and worked with more married people than ever in my life. And I find that a married man is different from a single dude and I don’t like that.
Now my boss is a married man. And this makes things very difficult. Now that our team gets assigned a defect towards the end of the day and that too a critical one. We have got to solve it that very day no matter how long it takes, but my boss… oh he’s a married man. He has to go home to be with his wife while we slog it out through
