How Life has changed
Last weekend saw me in Mumbai, the city which I can call my roots in India. It’s a really wonderful place and I have always had a lot of fun whenever I have been there but this time it was to be different.
I couldn’t have chosen a worser time to visit. The mercury was hovering in the mid 30’s while humidity was almost close to a century. Now Mumbai has always been a hot, sweaty place but that was one of the things that I used to like about it. You sweat throughout the day, in the packed trains, in the crowded buses but you still went about life. You would then come home, take a cold shower and then go out at night when it was somewhat pleasant and have a fun time.
But having stayed in Bangalore for the past 10 months I felt alien in Mumbai. In Bangy, it had rained every evening for the past three days and even thought I got fully drenched on my way home, it was fully worth it. The weather was so pleasant that you could sit on the balcony at night, sipping on your hot chocolate and wondering where your life was headed. The moment I landed in Mumbai, I got drenched again and this time with my own sweat…not a very pleasant thing. And even after having a shower 3 times a day, I did not feel clean.
It was then that I started about my life in Bangalore. Where I did not have to have to squashed with a million people just to get to work. Where I did not have to face 30 minute traffic jams to get to the nearest mall. Where I did not have to wear a t-shirt which always stuck to your skin. Where life seemed to be so much easier. Is this because I have gotten used to a routine of life in Bangalore? Probably. But then the thing I liked about Mumbai is that there is just no routine. It’s the huge crowds, the running across the platform to catch the trains
